Moving In

Step 1: Move-in date

Step 1: Move-in date

The move-in date is always the first day business day of the month. If you want to, you can arrange a different appointment with your dorm's caretaker but this isn't always necessary. You can also just pay the care taker a visit during his office hours once you get there.Click here to find the office hours.

Step 2: What do I need to bring?

Step 2: What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring the tenancy agreement and your id (identity card or passport). All of our rooms and apartments are furnished. But you won't find pots, pans, sheets or anything like that. If you want you can use our Basic-pack service.

Step 3: How do I get to my dorm?

Step 3: How do I get to my dorm?

You can find a map right here or check out the directions to each dormitory on the according site.

Please remember: You need to go to your dorm not to the adminstration office.

Step 4: Hand-over of the keys

Step 4: Hand-over of the keys

The caretaker will give you the key to your room and will show you your new home away from home.

Please have a close look at the room when you're in it for the first time. If there is any damage, you need to contact the caretaker. Otherwise you will be responsible for the damage when you move out.

Step 5: Actually moving in

Step 5: Actually moving in

Yay! You finally have the keys to this new part of life in your hands. Have fun unpacking boxes! It's up to you what you do with your room now.

Please be aware that you need to return the room as you received it which means you need to fill any holes, the walls need to be restored to their original state and bathroom and kitchen need to be cleaned as well.

Step 6: Activate internet

Step 6: Activate internet

In our era of smartphones, tablets and laptops nobody wants to miss out on internet. In our dorms the network group (NAG) sets up your internet. Please remember that you need to have a ZDV-account to be online. All JGU students (national and international students) revceive that account at enrollment. Students of the Universities of Applied Sciences in Mainz and Bingen can get that account at the Studierendenwerk.

Click here for further information and the office hours of the NAG.
