Being a part of the Buddy Program made my first semester in Germany a semester worth remembering. It was a semester full of new people, new friends and new experiences. Thanks to the coordinators of this program, I got a Buddy, Yanik, with whom I share a lot of common interests. Yanik and I did quite a number of things together throughout the semester. We went for movies, visited Christmas Markets, went out for drinks, visited theatre play and did some sports, just to name a few.

And our Buddy-relationship was not merely limited to participating in amusing activities. Every now and then, Yanik and I would talk about how different things are in Germany and Malaysia (I´m Malaysian, by the way) and how the system works in both countries. The topic of our conversation ranges from "how extensive the German transport system is" to "how diverse Malaysian cuisines are". Those conversations were definitely informative and fun at the same time.

Buddy Programme also made it possible for me to try new things. Things I have never tried before. Things I might have never tried, if I was not a part of this programme. For example, watching Hollywood films in German language. Not forgetting, monthly Buddy Get-Togethers also provided a wonderful chance to get to know more students from all over the world.

Participating in this programme for the past six months certainly broadened my horizons and I would, without any doubts, continue to be a part of this Buddy Program throughout my studies here in Germany. I´m eagerly looking forward to another great semester with the Buddy Program.
