Cild care Campulino

The “Campulino” daycare center, which was built in 2011, has space for 82 children aged from a few months to school age.

We look after children in six groups, from kindergarten groups to children of different age groups to the regular kindergarten group. Inspired by the “Berlin acclimatization concept”, we want to enable the children to gradually integrate into our facility together with their parents. This means that the parents accompany their child intensively during the first four weeks so that the transition to the new environment runs smoothly.

We attach great importance to intensive and cooperative collaboration with the parents. A stable relationship enables the child to “understand” the environment with all their senses in an inspiring developmental environment.

We work according to the situational approach, taking into account the child's immediate interest in the bigger questions of life and helping them to master new life situations. The child's interaction with children of the same age also plays an important role for us.

Our facility is open all day from 07:30 to 17:00. Fridays from 07:30 to 15:00.

We are happy to answer your questions by e-mail or telephone.
You are also welcome to visit the facility.

Please make an appointment with Mr. Maxeiner by telephone (+49 6131 39 37374).

Applications for admission
Applications for admission can be made or handed in at the daycare center department (Colonel-Kleinmann-Weg 2, 2nd floor room no. 333, 55128 Mainz, 06131-392693) or sent by email to kita-verwaltung@studierendenwerk-mainz.de. The application must be submitted or handed in by telephone (06131-3924693). If required, it is also possible to arrange additional appointments by telephone. You can find the application form here: Application form

Duty of supervision
The day-care center's duty of supervision begins when the child is taken into the care of the center's staff (from the moment the staff member has seen the child) and ends when the child is handed over to the parent or guardian. At joint events and celebrations with children and parents/guardians within the daycare center, the duty of supervision lies with the parents/guardians.

Outdoor area
The large outdoor area with its diverse play and exercise equipment offers the children a variety of opportunities to play, run, climb, ride their bikes, slide, muddle and experiment. The garden also offers the opportunity to grow fruit and vegetables together with the children.

Contributions
A contribution based on income is payable for the care of children under the age of two. Childcare for children from the age of two in kindergarten until they start school is free of charge for all income levels.

Drop-off and pick-up times
The daily opening hours are from 7.30 am to 5.00 pm. We ask that you do not bring or collect your child during meal and bedtime times. Otherwise, we do not have fixed attendance times. Our facility closes at 3.00 pm on Fridays.

Documentation
Continuous observations and their documentation by the specialist staff serve as a basis for needs-oriented work and for discussions with parents.

Familiarization
In order to enable each child to settle into their group as positively as possible, support from and close cooperation with parents is an important component. The duration of this support depends on the individual needs of each child. The “Berlin settling-in model” forms the basis for the settling-in process. An initial meeting before the child settles in is used for precise consultation between the educational staff and the parents.

Parent work
Working with parents is an important part of our work. To ensure good cooperation in the interests of your child, we would like to maintain good contact with you as parents.
Parents can volunteer in various areas, e.g. on the parents' committee, at parties and projects.

Parents' Committee
The parents' committee consists of at least two representatives elected from the parents' meeting. It meets at least three times a year and acts as a “mediator” between parents, educational staff and the provider.

Meetings with parents
As a good exchange with parents plays an important role in educational work, regular meetings are offered, usually once a year. In addition, meetings can be arranged throughout the year as required.

Parents' general meeting
At the beginning of each kindergarten year, the parents' general meeting takes place, to which all parents and guardians are invited to elect the parents' committee.

Birthdays
Children's birthdays are celebrated within the group. You are welcome to bring something for the party. Please discuss this with the group's own staff.

Groups
The facility has six groups and offers 82 childcare places. The crèche group looks after 10 children aged 0-3 years. The two mixed-age groups each consist of 15 children aged 2-6 years. The regular group consists of 22 children aged from 2 years to school entry.

Cross-group work
We also offer cross-group, age- and development-appropriate projects and activities for small groups.

Integrative
Our daycare center offers the opportunity to integrate children with special needs.

Contact details
Please inform us immediately if you change your address, telephone or cell phone number. In order to be able to respond specifically to changes in your child's behavior and emotional expressions, it is important for us that you inform us of any significant events in your family.

Experiencing nature
In the outdoor area and on regular walks, the children have the opportunity to experience nature and the changing seasons. Please remember to bring a change of clothes or muddy clothes.

Opening hours
Open Monday to Thursday from 07:30 to 17:00 and Fridays from 07:30 to 15:00.

Pedagogy
We work according to the situational approach, which means that we take up the topics that concern our children and work on them in projects.

Staff
The pedagogical staff consists of 19 pedagogical specialists, 1 trainee, 1 federal volunteer, 1 intern, 2 student assistants and the exempted management. In addition, a cook prepares the meals and, together with a housekeeper, takes care of all domestic tasks.

Sleeping
Adequate sleeping and resting facilities are very important to us, especially at lunchtime, but also throughout the day if required.

Closing times
The daycare center is closed for three weeks in the summer, during the school vacations, and for one week in the winter, between Christmas and New Year. Additional closing times for bridging days or pedagogical planning days will be announced in good time.

Play
The focus is on the child's daily play. Pedagogically selected work materials enable the children to gain a variety of learning experiences.

Provider
The daycare center Campulino is run by the Studierendenwerk Mainz.

Surroundings
The daycare center is located in front of the University of Applied Sciences on the edge of the grounds of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. The Opel Arena is located nearby.

Accident insurance
All children are insured with the Rhineland-Palatinate Accident Insurance Fund for accidents at the center or on the way there and back.

Transport connections
You can reach the daycare center by various bus lines of the Mainz public transport company, bus stop “Hochschule Mainz”. From there it is only a few meters to the Kita Campulino.
The bus connections will change from December 2016. You can find out more at www.mainzer-mobilitaet.de

Meal allowance
The meal allowance of currently 50 euros per month includes breakfast, lunch, fruit and drinks, snacks and all ingredients for joint cooking and baking activities.

Preschool
In the last year before the children start school, they take part in pre-school education with various projects such as traffic education, numbers, shapes, professions, etc.

Diaper money
Parents do not have to bring diapers for the children. The Studierendenwerk Mainz orders the diapers for the daycare center. Parents of diaper-changing children pay a monthly diaper fee of € 20.00 for as long as the child needs diapers.

Subsidies
Parents or guardians with a low income can receive a partial reimbursement of the food or childcare allowance, provided that the relevant evidence is submitted. Applications are available from us and can then be submitted to the relevant social welfare office.
