Living in the dormitories of the Stw Mainz
A new city, new people and a lot to discover - your new chapter of life brings many changes. After you have received your university place, you will start looking for a room. You like it quiet and prefer your own four walls? Or do you prefer to live in a sociable atmosphere? We offer you a variety of shared flats and apartment options, in which you can even move in with your family or partner. Of course, we also offer rooms suitable for wheelchairs.
In 10 dormitories the Studierendenwerk Mainz offers about 4,200 places for students. Of these, 2,645 are apartments, 279 are shared flats for 2 persons, 118 are apartments for couples, 64 are shared flats for 4 persons, 53 are shared flats for 3 persons, 40 are family apartments, 24 are 8-bed flats and 8 are shared flats for 12 persons.
Unlike on the private housing market, with us you pay an "all-in rent", i.e. all utilities, internet and caretaker service are already included in the rent.
However, we are not yet done with just providing of living space for students: sociability is never neglected! For example in our dormitory common rooms: music, sports, game nights, parties for residents are supervised by voluntary residents, the dormitory representatives (HV).
Opportunities to make contacts are also on the program. Take part in our Buddy program or volunteer in the dormitory at the HV or in one of the many clubs. Our team will be happy to assist you in all matters at any time. From changing the light bulbs to the dormitory summer party, everything is included.
