The aim of the cash aid fund is to support students in need at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Mainz University of Applied Sciences and Bingen University of Applied Sciences.

Prerequisite: A current emergency situation that jeopardizes the continuation of studies. The cash grant can only be claimed once per semester.

Type: The grant is paid as a subsidy and does not have to be repaid. The amount of the grant depends on the available funds. As a rule, a grant of € 700 (plus € 100 per child living in the household) is awarded.

Application: The application, which must be submitted on a special form, must be accompanied by various documents. The application must be collected and submitted in person. A committee decides on the granting of the aid.

The following documents must be enclosed:

• Justification of the emergency situation in writing
• Certificate of study with subject and semester number
• Expert opinion on the course of studies
• Proof of income
• Complete bank statements for the last three months
• Copy of identity card or passport
• Tenancy agreement and confirmation of registration
• Passport photo
• Marriage certificate and birth certificate(s) of child(ren), if applicable

The following persons cannot apply for assistance:
Students who attend the International Preparatory College Mainz and are admitted to Faculty 06 of JGU in Germersheim, the Universities of Trier or Kaiserslautern or another university or university of applied sciences. Program scholarship holders (Erasmus, Sokrates, DAAD) who are only studying at Johannes Gutenberg University for one or at most two semesters.

Students cannot apply for:
Excursions, compulsory internships, instrument cases for the TPK, semester fees and all other costs incurred that are already known before the start of studies.
