Project Partners:
The partnership between Studierendenwerk Mainz and Crous in Dijon has existed since 1981. Crous is the French equivalent of a student services organization
Since then, exchanges have taken place within the framework of the partnership, promoting both (inter)cultural and linguistic contact between the two. The partnership began with an exchange of cafeteria and administrative staff. Chefs from Mainz cooked in the cafeteria in Dijon and vice versa. Administrative staff met to exchange experiences in the areas of housing, room allocation, and general administration. The exchange demonstrated how working together and learning from each other can open up perspectives even across language barriers. Through this valuable exchange and collaboration, student projects and mixed projects were initiated. The joint photo project "La vie en images – Das Leben in Bildern" (2011), the theater project "Bin ich un chliché" (2017), and the performance of the Théâtre Universitaire Dijon with "Liberté à Brême - Bremer Freiheit" (2012) in Mainz are just a few examples. An employee of De Bas Etages, who submitted the EU application for "Places Publiques" as the main organizer, was involved as a student organizer in the 2017 project. This led to the collaboration between the three institutions Crous Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, De Bas Etages, and Studierendenwerk Mainz, and the idea to implement a great new large-scale project. We have many supporters for this: Erasmus+ and the Franco-German Youth Office provide financial support for the artistic binational project. Additionally, the city of Dijon and the Institut Français are involved.
